Miguel Alejandro Valderrama
My photographic work takes off from my investigations and hands-on exercises on documentary and academic photography. My series "Havana exercises" and "New Havana exercises" are two examples of the result of my inquiries and experimentations with urban landscapes.
I followed a parallel line of work on my tribute series to Robert Frank "0-Cubans", in which I inquire about the Cubans ways of life through a documentary and anthropological recording of the inner circumstances in my city.
I desire to promote collective awareness about our surroundings as depositories of ephemeral but transcendental situations. In my photos, I aim to capture the essence that every individual or collective intention can use to make our world a better place.
